The whole is greater than the sum of its parts – we research and develop all of our technologies in-house to ensure that each part improves efficiency across the whole vertical farm.
At YesHealth Group, we approach automation from a regional feasibility perspective, tailoring automated solutions to our regional partners specific needs. For example, our latest farms in Europe feature more advanced automation than our vertical farms in Taiwan. We believe that higher levels of automation are feasible under the right circumstances.
We currently offer automated solutions to perform tasks such as seeding, transplanting, AGV for internal logistics, harvesting and product packaging. We are constantly improving our automated solutions to process larger yields at an ever faster pace, elevating efficiency, and we are working towards the goal of building a fully automated vertical farm under feasible conditions.
The YesBase edible gel substrate is inserted into a tray and transferred into the seeding automation by a robotic arm. Our seeding automation is capable of planting hundreds of seeds in less than 15 seconds, and is compatible with seeds of all shapes and sizes.
After the seeds have germinated and sprouted in darkness, they are transplanted onto larger growing boards. Several hundred seedlings are transplanted in a single motion, then loaded onto an AGV and placed under LED lighting for the main growth cycle.
YesHealth Group designs harvesting and packaging automation to meet regional consumer demands. In Taiwan, for instance, we sell plants with their roots intact to increase quality and shelf life. Thus, our harvesting machine cuts away only part of the roots. In Europe, on the other hand, consumers favor leafy vegetables that are cut away from the root. Therefore, we specifically designed a harvesting machine that cuts away all the roots for our European partners.
After the plants have been harvested, the trays and boards are cycled in our cleaning automation, which uses powerful jets of water and brushes to remove any leftover plant matter. The trays and boards can then be returned to the YesBase and seeding automation.
